GUI Environment

A graphical user interface (GUI) environment is a window manager combined with the other elements you may have on your desktop. These can include task bars, icons, and sometimes active elements on your desktop. Through icons, windows, or graphics, users can interact with the system visually. Window managers (WM) are system software that manage the placement and appearance of windows within a windowing system in a GUI. It can be part of a desktop environment or be used standalone. A desktop environment (DE) is a system of unifying concepts that enables a group of programs to share a common GUI.
