Fedora
Last updated: 2024, Tue May 28th at 22:12 CDT
Fedora’s aim is to be a leading player in open-source technologies and offers software that is distributed under different free and open-source licenses. It is responsible for providing upstream support for both CentOS Stream and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Fedora offers a variety of editions, including ones for desktop, server and cloud computing. Furthermore, it has been broadened to incorporate editions for containerization and Internet of Things (IoT). Fedora releases new versions every six months with security update support for approximately 13 months after the release date.

Additional Setup - Package Manager settings #
Adjust the package manager by editing /etc/dnf/dnf.conf
with your preferred text editor. The settings I like using are:
installonly_limit=2
max_parallel_downloads=10
fastestmirror=True
defaultyes=True
install_weak_deps=False
I also recommend installing RPM Fusion free and non-free these add extra programs and libraries that can be downloaded. Note that non-free means proprietary software, like Discord.
sudo dnf install https://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm https://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm
